Emission Control Norms (CPCB)
Stringent Emissions Regulations and Challenges
CPCB website from time to time by one of the four Central Pollution Control Board, Govt of India, recognized /approved laboratories as given below:
- Automotive Research Association of India, Pune (Maharashtra)
- International Centre for Automotive Technology, Manesar (Haryana)
- Indian Institute of Petroleum, Dehradun (Uttarakhand)
- Vehicle Research and Development Establishment, Ahmednagar (Maharashtra)
5-Mode Constant Speed Cycle (D2 Steady-state discrete mode test cycle specified in ISO-8178)
Particulate matter emission from DG sets needs to be reduced by 70% from the existing emission level of the DG set
Why Emission Control Matters
By prioritising emission control, Platino is not just adhering to regulations but is actively working towards a cleaner, healthier planet for all.
Advantages of Platino’s RECD / RATS ®

OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) Control Panel
The RECD OBD (On-Board Diagnostics) Panel is a specialized control and monitoring interface integrated with Retrofit Emission Control Devices for diesel generator (DG) sets. It enables real-time diagnostics, performance tracking, and regulatory compliance verification—especially under CPCB norms for particulate matter (PM), CO, and HC reduction.
-
Pressure & Temperature Sensors
Installed upstream and downstream of the RECD to monitor differential pressure and thermal behaviour. -
Data Acquisition Module
Captures sensor data and transmits it to the control panel or remote server. -
OBD-II Interface (or custom protocol)
Facilitates diagnostics and fault code retrieval, often customized for DG applications. -
IIoT Connectivity
Enables remote monitoring, data logging, and predictive maintenance via cloud platforms. -
Display & Control Unit
May include LCD/LED indicators or touchscreens for local status visualization and manual overrides. -
Emission Monitoring
Tracks backpressure trends, and temperature thresholds to ensure RECD health. -
Fault Detection & Alerts
Generates Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) for sensor failures, clogging, or abnormal operating conditions. -
Compliance Reporting
Supports CPCB-mandated data logging for audit trails and type approval testing. -
Remote Diagnostics
Through IIoT, stakeholders can access live data, historical trends, and system health from any location. -
Integration with BMS/SCADA
Optional compatibility with broader building or plant management systems for centralized control. -
DG Sets with RECDs (up to 800 kW)
Especially in non-attainment cities where CPCB mandates retrofitting for air quality improvement. -
Industrial & Commercial Facilities
Ensures emission compliance without disrupting operations. -
Field Testing & Validation
Useful during ARAI/ICAT certification and COP development tests. -
CPCB Type Approval
Panels must support RECDs certified under CPCB Phase I & II norms.
